Russian railway company plans large projects in Abu Dhabi and Kuwait

Russian railway company (RZHD) foreign project department is planning to participate in a tender on building a rail way in Abu-Dhabi. The cost of the project is some estimated $2 bln, the head of Zarubezhstroitekhnologii (ZST), Yury Nikolson, said to the Prime news agency.

“We have the best chances in the Persian gulf. Today we have all rights to think that we passed the pre-qualification stage for the project in the UAE.

I am flying to Abu Dhabi soon where there will be a discussion of terms and dates of the tender,” Nikolson added.
Moreover, the company is also interested in building a light-rail metro in the Persian gulf countries.

“Our largest project in Kuwait is the building of a light-rail metro. The tender for the first stage has already been passed. We took part in it and the project is already being implemented. We are now preparing for the second stage of the tender,” Nikolson said.
He added that ZST is also considering major railway project in Kenya, worth some $ 450 mln. More info
