Etihad Rail will support the development of its 1,200 km railway across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with business software solutions from SAP in collaboration with HCL Technologies.
One of the most ambitious transport projects in Middle Eastern history, the US$11 billion (Dh40 billion) development will connect the UAE to Saudi Arabia via Ghweifat in the west and Oman via Al Ain in the east.
“We are delighted to support Etihad Rail on this important project,” said Sam Alkharrat, managing director, SAP MENA. “With a development blueprint and sustainability credentials, this is a perfect fit for both SAP’s business solution offerings and overarching business philosophy.”
The rail project will evolve over a number of years, with the first stage due for completion by 2014 linking up Shah, Habshan and Ruwais in Abu Dhabi. More info
