Abu Dhabi-based companies have increased support for knowledge-based events this year according to Aim Events, the conference and events division of Abu Dhabi University (ADU).
James Graham, General Manager of Aim Events, said companies are becoming more willing to invest in events, which serve as a vehicle for collaboration of innovative ideas and exploration of new business opportunities.
Overall sponsorship revenues increased significantly with an average increase per event of 20-25%. The company has staged 26 successful events since it started in 2009 with 5 large scale conferences being held since January. Delegate numbers also increased by 15% in the same period.
“We concentrate on high quality content relevant to the Abu Dhabi market and the objective of contributing to Abu Dhabi’s effort of building a sustainable knowledge-based economy. We strive to provide real value that generates substantial results to our delegates and partners,” he added.
Aim is continuing to build on the success of its established events focused in the areas of Emiratisation, leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship and scientific research by providing conferences centred on topics that enhance economic diversifications and support competencies needed to achieve the Abu Dhabi 2030 Economic Vision.
“Collaborating with organisations like Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), Etihad Airways, Al Hilal Bank, Abu Dabi Tawteen Council and Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), was successful, particularly in creating series of events that reflect the specific needs of the Abu Dhabi Economy. Collaborating with organisations like the Tawteen Council, Khalifa Fund and AD Ports has been an excellent engine for ideas and quality content at these events. ,” Graham explained.
Other sponsors of Aim’s events and forums were National Catering Company (NCC); Riyada – a division of Abraaj Capital; and Microsoft. Thus far in 2010, Aim has staged the Abu Dhabi Innovation Forum, The Emiratisation Employers Forum, The Global Logistics Forum, The Abu Dhabi Forum on Entrepreneurship and the highly successful Emiratisation Forum in Abu Dhabi among others.
