Visitors at Cityscape 2011 have flocked to visit the 3D Model Project of Abu Dhabi Emirate, showcased by the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, as part of a series of projects, initiatives and services exhibited.
All revolves around the concept of enhancing the sustainability standards and serving the community in line with the Emirates Vision 2030 of ensuring a superior qualify of life and a sustainable environment for Abu Dhabi residents.
The 3D model project is based on a geographic information system, or GIS, spanning an area of more than 5,866 square kilometres, including the Abu Dhabi area, Al Gharbia (Western Region) and Al Ain with the aim of enhancing the plans, designs and development processes in support of the realisation of Abu Dhabi Plan 2030.
“The 3D Model Project of Abu Dhabi Emirate carried out by the GIS Section at the Spatial Data Division is one of the pioneering projects and initiatives undertaken by the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City in collaboration with all strategic partners for the ultimate benefit of the comprehensive development projects, sustainability and strategic plans,” said Engineer Salah Al Sarraj, Acting Executive Director of the department’s Town Planning Sector.
He said it was based on a closely-integrated methodology between all projects carried out by the municipality and the need to link them with their developmental, environmental, social and economic dimensions in the light of the rapid growth rates seen by the emirate, envisioned in Plan 2030.
“The project involves multi tasks and deliverables, including the follow-up of buildings condition, and planning for their maintenance or re-building,” Director of Spatial Data, ousef Abdul Rahman Al Marzouqi said.
